DEFENCE MINISTER RECEIVES SENIOR EXECUTIVE COURSE 40 PARTICIPANTS


One of the key components of my achievement since assumption of duty in the Ministry of Defence was streamling the relationship of the civilian and military components whose working relationship in the past was non-harmonious.

This was said by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan-Ali while receiving in audience the senior executive course 40 participants of the National institute for policy and strategic studies (NIPSS), who were on a study tour of strategic institutions in the federation, of which Ministry of Defence is one.

Addressing them further, Dan-Ali recalled the workshop held in their institute; on Civil Military Relationship where he enumerated the successes recorded since the assumption of duty in the Ministry in which he emphasized on the need for smooth Civilian-Military Relationship, as a panacea for peace and good working relationship.

He also disclosed that the Ministry of Defence has recorded several successes following the Armed Force ability to decimate the insurgents in the on-going operation in the North East and other security challenges across the country. Degrading the capacity of Boko Haram, insurgency in the North East, also facilitated the release of over 30,000 persons held hostage by the terrorists, the release of b105 Chibok girls and 105 students of Dapchi Secondary Schools are also enumerated.

Continuing, Dan-Ali said that, the Ministry had enhanced the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces by re-equipping the services with the modern equipment.

He further highlighted other achievements which include: increased collaboration with foreign militaries and capacity building of the Armed Forces.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and Director of studies, of the institute, Celestine Bassey said that their visit to Ministry of Defence was informed by the understanding that, Defence Ministry is one of the core institutions, responsible for management of the Armed Forces that are vested with the protection of lives and properties and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

He further said that this year’s theme of the “Internal Security Management and Community Policy” is very apt considering spectrum of threats facing the country and what the Federal government is currently doing to cope and curtail the multiple threats as manifested in various part of the country.
